Home decor on a budget

As you may know, Gathershop loves to DIY. And we've mentioned it before in our previous post (and might do so again!): decorating your home doesn't have to cost a fortune if you get a little bit creative. From metal thread, copper pipes, triplex wood and brass nails we've managed to make and hang our jewelry shelves, plant table and a bunch of other things in the shop with a very tight budget. All these things are available from the Praxis and Gamma for just a few euros!
Scroll down for some easy & simple but beautiful examples of DIY home decor.

There are countless options with wood.
This example shows a piece of plywood being used as a beautiful mirror piece with little shelves - A little note - at the big DIY stores they can cut sheets of wood to size for free! So if you go there with your measurements, putting something together at home can be super easy!

This x-shapes magazine holder is a good example of the beauty of simplicity. Take two even pieces of wood. Cut out a part in the middle of one of the pieces, just as thick as the other piece, so it will fit right into it. You could also try this with longer pieces of wood, for example to create a shoeshelf. Couldn't be simpler!

This little nightstand reminds us a bit of one of the tables in the shop which we also made ourselves.
All you need is some wood, glue, metal tablelegs, some screws et voila.

(Try searching 'hairpin legs' on Marktplaats for these style table legs)

One of our favs for hanging mechanisms are copper pipes. This can be done by having them rest on hooks in your wall, or by using a firm rope or other strong material to hang.
